Well well welcome, this is another Cucumber Days edition of Down the Pipes, a weekly semi-private weblog delivered to your inbox. Because it’s the waning days of summer here in the Catskills, I am currently on a hike with my brother and some of his friends, not blogging. In that spirit, I figured I’d bust out the second part of my totally unfinished, totally unpublished, barely edited manuscript that I’ve been chipping away at on and off since the summer of 2015 (some of the references will seem dated or incompatible with historical understanding, think of this series as a snapshot in time more than a thoughtful analysis of the past).
If you’re new here, a paid subscription is unfortunately required. If you know me personally or cannot afford to subscribe, simply sign up for the free tier and respond to one of the emails you get from here and you’ll be added to the comp list.
There’s only 2 more weeks of summertime throwaway posts, so enjoy them while they last and share it if you like it. Welcome on Down!
