I really enjoyed this. I've had the same connections with my own bands from the 80s. You had mentioned WLIR, but not sure how much you got to listen to it before it went off the air. Me and my friends were so fortunate to have the best radio station in the country during our formative teen years. And many of those bands, we felt like we discovered, or knew well before they became international super stars and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. Music has such an emotional connection and makes such strong memories. BTW, as for those bands you listened to, you'll start hearing them again in about 15 years or so being used on tv commercials selling retirement and investment plans. 😂

Hellogoodbye! <3
I listen to They Might Be Giants on a daily basis…they sing the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song! Hot dog!
Sincerely, a toddler mom
They also did the theme songs for The Daily Show and Malcolm in the Middle!
